Cycle through the Cardamom countryside passing a diversity of landscape and gaze at Veal Ta Prak pond where the wildlife often comes to drink water. Enjoy a nice ride through the countryside passing through Chi Phat and Chamlsa villages and then visit the reforestation nursery where Wildlife Alliance works ongoing to replant the area that suffered huge deforestation and logging until very recently. Swim or relax at Chhay O’Kphos waterfall after growing green.

 

DAY 01 PHNOM PENH TO CHI PHAT BY CAR. CRUISE FOR FIREFLIES.

DAY 02 CHI PHAT TO VEAL TA PRAK BY CYCLE

DAY 03 CHI PHAT TO REFORESTATION NURSERY, CHHAY O’KHPOS WATERFALL BY BIKE. CHI PHAT TO PHNOM PENH 

BY CAR.

 

What to bring : Two changes of clothes, long pants and shirt with sleeves during the trek, good hiking 

                                          shoes, sunscreen, hat, mosquito repellent, flashlight, sarong for bathing (required for women), camera.

About 0800 in the morning, depart from Phnom Penh and this drive will take about 4 hours. When start taking the national road 48, you will feel like that now you escape from the maddening crowd of the city and enjoy the scenery with mountain background and the windy road. Before the second big bridge, take a dirt road to Chi Phat for 17km and cross the river with ferry for 03 minutes. On arrival at Chi Phat office, do registration and one of the CBET staff (Community Based Ecotourism) will lead you to CBET restaurant. Enjoy your lunch with the very simple local cuisine. After lunch, you will return to the CBET office to hear about the story of this site and the objective of CBET project. Cycle or walk to the village and visit the village market. You will find the rural life such as the rooster sounding, the birds singing, the dog barking and the villagers sweeping their house compound, the cow mooing and so forth. Check-in at your home-stay. Your home-stay house owner will greet you and show your room. Have your delicious dinner at CBET restaurant. Proceed to the community dock for fireflies night cruise. Cruise along the river as the sun is setting and spot the colorful lights from fireflies on both sides of the river.  Enjoy a few drinks while drifting on the clam water surrounded by the overwhelming sound of the jungle at night. Overnight in Chi Phat.

After breakfast at CBET restaurant, start pedaling to Veal Ta Prak pond which is about 11km far from the Chi Phat village. After three-hour ride, you will reach at Veal Ta Prak pond and take time to spot wildlife and birds. This pond is in nature and the wildlife often come and drink water from this pond. Have lunch near Veal Ta Prak pond. In the afternoon, pedal back to Chi Phat and on the way, take time to explore the nature and the wildlife. On arrival at the CBET office, refresh with a glass of the natural sugar cane juice. Dinner at CBET restaurant. Overnight at home-stay.

After breakfast at CBET restaurant, begin biking to the reforestation project. After an hour later, you will reach the site of the reforestation project and visit the nursery. Then you will have a chance to plan a tree in this deforestation area. Trek back to Chi Phat and on the way, stop at Chhay O’Kphos waterfall and swim if you like to. Lunch at the CBET restaurant. In the afternoon, stroll around and visit the local market before returning to Phnom Penh.
